Microsoft OCT Event 2019 Preview | New Surface & Windows
Microsoft is expected to launch a bunch of new surface devices. Along with that, we might see some new Microsoft experiences like Windows Core OS. The company has also sent invitations to the press for the Microsoft OCT event. Let’s start with 6th episode of “The Insider Story S2”.
Note: Microsoft OCT Event (2 OCT 2019 7:30 PM IST) Live tweets via Twitter (@rajanbhave).
Microsoft Surface Pro 7
The first rumor coming up is of Microsoft Surface Pro 7. We have seen quite a few patents on potential new type cover and Stylus which means Surface Pro 7 could be much sleeker with USB Type C and modular pen.
The Flagship Surface Pro 7 comes with Intel Core i7 (1065G7 Ice Lake) processor. 4 Cores, 8 thread processor is clocked at 1.3 GHz & boost up to 3.9 GHz (single-core). It comes with Intel Iris Pro (graphics card) which is a decent combination. It’s 3D Mark score is 6963. Other specification includes 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD for flagship variant. Midrange variant comes with Intel i5 1035G1 processor.
The next product which Microsoft can announce at Microsoft October event is the surface laptop 3.
Surface Laptop 3
The surface laptop 3 is rumored to come with an AMD processor which means it would be a direct competitor for MacBook Air. But there are still high chances that Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3 will show up on October event but will arrive at mid-2020. Surface laptop 3 prices may be much lower than a thousand dollars. The next product is my personal favorite that is Microsoft Surface book 3.
According to German Website WinFuture, there will be six 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 models with different configuration & prices. The lower variant comes with normal quad-core AMS Ryzen Socs along with 8 GB RAM.
Hexa-core & Octa-core Ryzen processors for other 4 variants. Two having 12 GB RAM & other two having 16 GB RAM. It’s worth noting that AMD has not yet announced 6/8 core CPUs.
Slash Gear says, “If Microsoft and AMD have indeed partnered to make such a combination, it could be one of the most powerful laptops in the market or at least the most powerful in the Surface line.”
Surface Book 3 (2020)
One of the most highly anticipated product. However, the same German website Winfuture excluded out surface book 3 in its report. Which might point out that Microsoft have pushed it a little further in 2020. And we may not see it at the event.
But we never know it’s Microsoft and we love surprises.
Windows Core OS & Dual Screen Surface
Microsoft promised to showcase Surface hardware & newer “experiences”. Which has something to do with Windows Core OS?
The much anticipated Windows Core OS (WCOS) is currently being prepared for next-gen Surface devices like Hololens, Hub, & upcoming dual-screen foldable device.
According to a Forbes report, this new Surface device will have two 9 inches (4:3) panels. Which looks very cool & may look like a phone/tablet. Another, the rumored feature is it’s the ability to run Android apps. We still don’t think it’s Surface Phone.
Thank You! See you on 2 OCT via Twitter.
